They prefer to be sneaky, more than anything else. Slip in, latch on, steal some blood, and be gone before you even know they were there. They live in groups, but they go in one at a time. They’re bold enough to ask permission if you catch one, and quick enough to flee if you say no XD
I see. Fascinating and I’m sure they can be quite persuasive. That’s good to hear they can find their own food and I’m sure there are plenty of creatures they can negotiate for feeding.
Now i wonder, do they live in groups? Families or communities? Would they negotiate with a creature and chat with a fellow little leech feeding on the same creature like meeting up at a bar or a restaurant? I’m too curious for my own good.
@Background Pony #15CF
You wouldn’t have to worry about feeding them. They do fine on their own, going after fish and the like. They’re just also sapient and will try to talk their way into a free meal XD
@Badumsquish
I see. So they keep their blood sucking safe and clean for themselves as well as those they blood suck. That’s great and hearing they are sapient and possibly able to respond mean that they are leave with just talking is That’s very kind of them. Little cuties and not scary.
Curse me and my brain…because questions occurred!
UH would they accept donated blood in a blood bag? Hmmm, now I’m getting to curious and don’t want to have to go down a big rabbit hole but cute nice, sapient little leeches are intriguing but need to stop before I get too involved and make an OC etc! But thank you very much Badumsquish for the answer! Have a lovely day!

There’s very little danger so long as you safely remove them. Since they’re sapient, it’s as simple as telling them to knock that shit off and they’ll let go XD
@Chopsticks
My lore about them is much more simple. They’re reasonably intelligent, but still very much live like regular leeches where they just swim up and latch onto a creature in the water to suck a little bit of blood. They ARE willing to use diplomacy though, if you catch them or peel them off before they get done XD
@Twidrew @Changeling17N
Leeches are still used on occasion as a treatment for certain things. Not nearly as much since the Four Humors Theory fell out in favor of Germ Theory, but still.
@Damaged
Agreed. I’d let her have a feed.
Plus, as redweasel has already pointed out, she looks like she’s already pretty well-fed, so she probably wouldn’t take much anyway.
@SCH01
Yeah, leeches (and a myriad of other parasites) aren’t pleasant to think about in depth.

So no noncon feeding?

That sounds interesting. Are they able to clean their teeth/suckers, to prevent potential infections?

Huh, I see.
In the past doctors used leeches
I mean, maybe not life threatening but having a leech suck your blood is rather bad.
How is it dangerous?
@Background Pony #0690
You should feed the leech pone :P
That is the safer option as far as infection goes. I approve!
This takes me back to the times where I saw a leech right next to my foot.😱😱
