everyone’s mad about their relationship falling apart because they have realistic problems but no ones going to talk about the “barbecue on the weekends”; is that an ission that he eats meat and on a regular basis?
Why is everybody putting real-life bullshit into a setting that is basically a fantasy?
Sure “shino-verse” is a little bit more “realistic” than show, but still his version of ponies are a little bit less fucked-up than real-life garbage humans.
What makes you think ponies can’t be just as garbage as humans? Just because they’re magical equines doesn’t mean we should place them on a pedestal.
@Fuedra
Absolutely agreed there. I will never, ever understand people who defend Jet’s actions here. It all smells a little too much like victim blaming to me.
@Background Pony #F277
Which is still scummy, because at that point he decided his wanting her to stay with him was more important then letting her go and pursue her dreams and get the job she wanted. He took that from her, and that is not something that should be overlooked or easily forgiven, especially by Delta herself.
@Fuedra
Oh he certainly wants a family with her, and his intention in keeping her around was to start one. It’s just that getting her pregnant on the very first night was not something he planned on, just something that happened to work out very well for him. His attitude going in here was more “if I can keep her from leaving I can eventually get her pregnant and then we can be a family together.”
@Background Pony #F277
There is implied intent that Jet hoped Delta would get pregnant due to the earlier conversation as well as the fact he seems to perk up after seeing the picture of young Delta with her parents.
@Armagedonus @cdcdrr
The pregnancy is unrelated, she missed out on the EQSA opportunity because what Jet does here causes her to oversleep and be hungover. Her getting pregnant as well was a complete accident, though certainly one which served Jet’s desires. The pregnancy did keep her from pursuing further opportunities though, so it’s still a significant factor.
@Armagedonus
I guess you’ll just have to be patient then until more on this is brought up. But pregnancy can be a real barrier for women who want to start a career, and Delta’s came around the time of her internship. It’s likely NESA denied her a full contract because it was felt she was less reliable than a stallion or childless mare because she had Apogee to care for.
@Fuedra
It depends on how many fantasy thing shino deleted when he created it.
Not to mention we still do not know details about supposed internship with NESA, like why a pregnancy destroys the ability to do it, or why it is only “one-time only” thing…
I have always thought that this is the dumbest part about this story, like shino thing that “pregnancy is evil” or some other thing…
@Fuedra
Every time author puts fantasy element to the setting he need to revaluate how it will impact EVERYTHING. The opposite is also true.
I simply cannot shake off a feeling that shino created his “ponyverse” simply for Jet/Delta drama. That if he made another comic with enterly new set of characters but with the same universe, then it would feel “off”.
@Armagedonus
Because any fantasy setting can have real life drama in it, just because it is a fantasy setting with ponies does not automatically mean it cant have moments of real life drama.
@Background Pony #F277
Then why he makes story about ponies?
If it is meant to be “ralistic” why not humans? Without magic and eternal princesses and other drama-breaking things.

@Fuedra
From what I can tell it’s a little of both. Apogee genuinely wants to be with Delta and make her happy, and Jet sees that as an opportunity he can take advantage of.
@cdcdrr
Hm, I guess we will just have to wait and see then, though hopefully the visitation is not a Trojan Horse by Jet to try and get back into Delta’s life.
@Fuedra
I’d agree that it’s heavy, but I don’t feel it’s ambiguous. Jet is trying to justify his past mistakes in a “I’m sorry I was caught” way. Even those who defended him through this page couldn’t deny his actions after that. Now the controversy became about whether Delta should allow Apogee to be part of her life. Much as Delta doesn’t want to break the girl’s hopes and dreams, if you have even the slightest suspicion your daughter’s visitation rights are a Trojan horse for you crappy ex to get back into your life, cut all ties. Cut them hard. It’s going to end badly for all involved. Best to get it over with.
@cdcdrr
I would say this is the second most contentious page, the most contentious page is the one set four years later when Delta is leaving Jet after finding out the truth.
Here it is. Here is the most contentious page in the entire comic. The one that has everyone argueing just how much of an asshole Jet is. Maybe not Bill Cosby levels of asshole. But certainly up to Chris Brown level asshole.
Then again hayburgers exist.

And how pray tell are the fantasy elements of the setting this story is set in supposed to impact the drama?

Just look at where Delta Vee is living. This story is absolutely meant to be every bit as fucked up as real-life situations.
