Naw. She was literally just background noise back then. Give her credit here. At least she HAS a character. Not a very pleasant one but still.
When you are rejected, there is only one thing left to do.
Prove her wrong.
Prove everypony that you’re better than the Wonderbolts. Come back stronger and fight against judgemental ponies. And you did. I am grateful for you, Dustie.
An incredibly stupid decision of incompetent Spitfire.
Lightning Dust almost killed five of the most important ponies in Equestria for literally no reason other than wanting to show off. And that was on top of threatening the safety of every other potential recruit and showing zero remorse for doing so.
Kicking her out was an incredibly smart decision and she earned every bit of the dishonor.

Except she didn’t prove her wrong. If anything, Lightning Dust only got more reckless and uncaring as a Washout than she was as a potential Wonderbolt. And even if you don’t get that from her literally throwing out the safety guidelines, the fact that she ignored Scootaloo’s concerns and pressured her into a completely untested, thoroughly dangerous stunt with no practice or plans on what to do if it failed, proves it beyond all doubt.
There’s no denying she’s skilled. And there’s no denying she’s lucky, given that both times her negligence almost caused someone extreme harm there was someone else there to prevent it. But there’s going to be a day when that won’t be enough. The only real unknown is how many others she’ll take down with her when it happens.

Season 1 Spitfire was good.
>Implying she was ever that great to begin with.

But Dusty doesn’t need her anyway.
OK, I add the tag.
Spitfire.
