@opvious
Edit: I see multiple people have already chewed you out about nerco-ing old arguments without adding literally anything to the conversation so Imma remove my earlier sarcasm. :P
I don’t contest that my points weren’t well put-together at the time, and I did allow myself to get really heated (though my core platform on the whole subject has not budged). Surprise surprise, drama on the internet doesn’t need to be a vicious cycle, every time.
@Sanagi 蛹
I ll just say simple then for the bloodthirsty fans that forgot the message of this show hmm hmm
This is show preaches friendship love etc. Many characters who were of interest to the protagonists have been not only redeemed but forgiven as well. What happened in the finale was a complete contradiction to what the said preachings mean. If you like and even that kind of thinking the finale showed it is clearly hypocrisy just like the two parter. Now we don’t want to start another wars ourselfs now do we? so i’ll live this food for the brain and ethics here i will move on!.
@opvious
Its not just this site, it’s pretty much an Internet etiquette in general, everywhere.
Basically if you find comments / posts that are way too old (months or years old), then it’s most likely a very bad idea to call him out without actually adding anything constructive. The argument has died, and said has moved on already.
You can see how old for each comments here on the bottom left, FYI.
If you have to utter your “fact”, then just comment it for yourself and dont reply / drag other people in the process. Also it wasn’t even a “fact”, it’s just your opinion, man.
@opvious
Minimum namecalling or not, maybe try to find active (like only days old) discussions instead of necroing a long stopped and honestly tired argument?
Maybe you’re not using internet forums and comments much but just to let you know that thread necroing simply to get a beef with other people is extremely discouraged for a reason.
@NavelColt
Dude just stop you were debunked countless times and obviously dude biased to have a mediate opinion. You like thorax too death you ‘‘hate bug moma chrys’’ thorax is cool but he failed at some degree. Your only making yourself look more hypocritical.
@KSLDRDPL
I also believe, sometimes, what we want isn’t always what’s best for the series. Sometimes things happened that I didn’t care for, but eventually they lead to things I enjoyed.
What ever happened it would not satisfy a lot of fans, if the trio reformed a lot of fans would complain that every villain reforms, you cannot satisfy everyone and people need to understand it, sometimes you get what you want, sometimes you don’t. Many fans were mad at e21 when the daring do villains were redeemed, and they were not nearly as evil as these 3, yet it seems more people hated the do villains reformation than people liking what happened to the trio although the majority of the fandom wanted to stop the villains reformations. But I guess the OP made this more of a troll post really.
You are tight, it seems that the opposition is always louder.
@KSLDRDPL
Yeah, though the opposition are a bit louder. (I sometimes wonder if fans would be more accepting of the finale if it wasn’t for Cozy.)
Nobody really wanted Tirek reformed, until after his association with those two. So it’s a bit odd, suddenly the fanbase thinks a power-mad, destructive, genocidal demon centaur is “redeemable.” The only redeemable trait he showed was disagreeing with Chrysalis about letting the Windingoes roam free, but even then it was only because he worried they’d endanger themselves, or their conquering plans.
@Beau Skunky
Getting? It’s been that way since before I ed. Op is still entitled, and the fact that they think they can speak for everyone only makes it worse.
@Ihhh @Sanagi 蛹
The fanbase is getting kinda entitled, sadly… Regardless, what their opinions are.
Also, as I already stated, “What we want” isn’t entirely accurate here, as I some fans were begging for Chrysalis to not be reformed, and such. Some even cheered when she refused Starlight’s offer of friendship/redemption.
So honestly, even if they DID reform her like the OP here wants, then half the fanbase would be angry & complaining anyway.
Hasbro & DHX can’t please everyone no matter what.
Why the fuck should the show staff give fans what they ask for? What makes fans think they have any right to demand things from the show staff? This image is so entitled.
@Background Pony #6A94
Not necessarily given the circumstances, and regardless if he was, or not, they’ve been planning on betraying Groger, and become the Big Bad themselves.
@northern haste
Me too. If the villainous trio was reformed, it’d just be the opposite side of the fanbase complaining about the finale instead.
(Frankly I can’t see Tirek making nice, and having tea with the ponies that as far as he’s concerned turned his brother against him, or Chrysalis being palsie with Starlight after she turned her hive/army good, and such.)
in every one of them she’s demonstrated that her only drives as a character are selfishness, pride and an unflinching need to rule over others.
Pride I shan’t contest, but on what do you base the rest of this claim?
far past her ’nessecity to feed’, which was later shown to not be a nessecity at all.
I’m sure this wasn’t your intention, but your wording here does seem to suggest that changelings had no need to feed on love, which is obviously untrue. Would I be correct in assuming this was not the intended meaning?
– Starlight was lashing out at society after losing a friendship. She was already on board with friendship, she just got hurt a needed guidance to regain the path. Not a true villain.
I notice that you have omitted her vengeful attempt to alter Twilight’s history.
– Nightmare Moon was little different from the Darkness that consumed Stygian. It personified evil in Luna’s form and was born of her negative feelings. It’s like a symbiote, influences and takes over your thoughts and actions. Can’t make a valid argument about Luna’s actions being her own uninfluenced actions once she was corrupted by NMM. Luna was never a villain when not corrupted by magic.
Where in the show is this stated?
Discord is the embodiment of chaos – when he’s not causing mayhem he will actually cease to exist.
Discord has been “not causing mayhem”, after a fashion, for the best part of six seasons. In that time, he only ever began to fade away once, when he made himself and his pocket dimension orderly.
It’s true that he ruled the world and his actions caused ponies to suffer, but the key difference between Discord and Chrysalis is that he never cared about being obeyed, or gaining satisfaction through conquering others.
This claim can be considered true in only the most literal sense, as Discord doesn’t partake in much literal conquest. If, however, one is attempting to claim that Discord does not take pleasure in inflicting torment, I must point out that he spent most of The Return of Harmony (Part 1) corrupting the Mane Six in a deliberately personal manner and savoured Twilight’s misery in (Part 2).
Discord was more of a childlike natural disaster just doing what he was meant to do.
That much is certainly true, but surely this would make him a less viable candidate for reform. One can say what one wishes of Chrysalis’ character, but she isn’t tied by nature to a concept that is explicitly antithetical to all that Equestria values.
When he did find friendship for himself, he reigned in his chaos enough to co-exist with ponies.
As the quality of the writing is clearly relevant to this discussion, I should probably take this opportunity to make known my view that Discord’s redemption was a complete train wreck from start to finish.
Her redemption, itself, was garbage, and if Chrysalis was redeemed it’d have been even more forced and out of place, because unlike Shimmer, Chrysalis had multiple appearances of consistent villainy.
Not necessarily. It is my belief that the potential for a well executed redemption of the Legion of Doom was very much there, but evidently wasn’t utilised. Of course, such a redemption could also have been poorly executed, but that much is a given. In any case, that would have little to do with her consistent appearance as a villain.
“Yes, it feels…NOOOOOO! The magic of friendship is like a DISEASE! It’s an infection that spreads to those around you. I watched it infect my hive, I will NOT let it get me!”
This quote doesn’t seem to the point you’re making. It shows that she is quite capable of finding fulfilment in friendship, only actively rejecting it as a pernicious outside influence after realising what exactly was happening. That would seem to run counter to your claims that “Friendship, understanding [and] compromise” are “antithetical to everything Chrysalis desires”.
sure. Your opinion m8!
Take care.
Edited because: better this way.

Makes me wonder what would be the general consensus if changelings never transformed when good.
