In this case we found an adorable little poinsettia all by it’s lonesome at the store. We managed to kill the last one due to forgetting to water but it lasted a good long while before that happend.
Just like the comic, Markus was reluctant about it, knowing exactly what was gonna happen.

Hooo boy this was a 3 day adventure. Streamed most of the work too. I’m quite happy with how this turned out
Also honestly, Looking back at the last time I made a comic this big… The improvement is honestly shocking

I know they like moist soil, which is a problem for indoor plants because of root rot, and just average 20/20/20 fertilizer, but idk about acidic or basic. I heard the trick is fertilizing them only in the late winter, and then letting them dry out and go dormant from april to september. or just buy a new poinsetta every october.

I’m not that good… you said what it is in the description. your drawing does look like a poinsetta though, albeit a dormant and/or dead one.

Ah, well, then it was a learning opportunity. It was just a plant. Did you buy any books regarding what kind of soil poinsettias like (acidic, basic, the kinds of nutrients they mostly use)?

I’m honestly impressed you could tell it was a poinsetta LOL As simplified as I drew it.

Sadly it seemed to have been in perfect health when we got it. What perplexes me is the last one was in the same location and lasted like months until one of us forgot to water.

We do have “A” plant in the house that hasn’t died on us yet ^^

poinsettas are often unhealthy right out of the store, so be careful none of the leaves are yellow or wilting at least. they need six hours of sunlight, and are pretty temperature sensitive actually. if it drops below 50F they pretty much die, and above 70 they don’t do so well either. that pot doesn’t have a plant saucer, so if water accumulated in it that could cause root rot. also they need to be fertilized in spring about 3 or 4 times.

oh and around april almost all their leaves fall off and they look kind of dead until september.

if you want a good houseplant, try begonias. you’ll want fibrous or rhizomatus. (fibrous are also called “wax” begonias) they barely ever need watering, and the leaves droop to let you know to water the roots. they’re shade tolerant too: just a little partial shade for a few hours is enough sunlight for them.

Honestly, it wasn’t the watering :P
I know at bare minimum I was doing that correctly LOL
Everyone has an alarm for work, but no one can make an alarm for ‘Water the Plant.’
