The only anti-magic they had are shards of Chrysalis’ throne.
That’s a limited resource, they can’t arm entire army with it.
They can’t allow it to go to wrong hooves, and given guard’s track record, it would be stolen immediately.
It wouldn’t work against a changeling anyway.
I would say that ineffective guards are at least better than alternative. Wasn’t “super-trained commandos appears out of nowhere, overshadows actual heroes, start to give orders and lectures left and right, and always right due to everybody else suddenly turning into a straw-men” a very overused trope that’s found only in a bad fanfics? Kinda kills any character development if all they have to do is mindlessly follow orders from outsider.
For example, Jonathan P. Brazee’s books (he’s retired marine) aren’t as bad as those fanfics, but still, there’s enough traces of all that that it kill most of enjoyment.

im paying for the repair costs anyways. besides, if it gets too badly damaged, they’ll just get a new one and bigger one anyways. Twilight knows how it works
I’d argue it’s more that society raises women to be more gentle and less violent and is especially prevalent when they’re young, but I’ll leave it at that. Last thing I want is get into a discussion about gender politics.

I guess. Men do tend to die sooner for many of the same reasons their shows are different, so I guess it kind of makes sense that death would feature more in their shows.
@PaintEdits
It’s happened in movies for kids, and I’m pretty sure shows as well.
Alright let me be specific.
Typically, kid’s action shows/movies for boys (Transformers for example) can have good guys dying.
This is not primarily an action show (while it has action) and is aimed at girls.
There’s 9 seasons where we’ve had zero on screen good guy deaths. So ya, no one was going to die in this. Funnily enough if the villains were allowed to kill in just this season they would have won.
ME: from my perspective, i see cozy glow as some seriel killer because of the box of voodoo dolls amd a pony skull with naysay scene in the season 8 finale, if the portal was any higher and not above a moat, she would have killed those guards.
ALSO ME: i was going into this series finale expecting one of the good guys to be killed off. that never happened.
I think you forgot this is a kid’s show. They weren’t going to kill a good guy.

Cozy glow was originally going to freeze them solid in a block of ice,which was too much for the censors so she just portals them away now. Also explains why don’t come back ever.
@superfun
Chrysalis did: captured and cocooned…
Tirek did: drained her…
Cozy did: trapped her in Tartarus…
Sombra did: trapped her in a crystal prison…
That’s the spirit of many many MLP fans, we can do almost anything for the media.
Indeed we can
Hmmm, we fans can make more realism can’t we?

We’re not damaging the castle!!
of course it can! just plow through the walls and unleash 120MM sabot and HEAT rounds on walls that are too big to drive through
It can’t fit inside the castle!
just send a tank to burnouts on her. that always works
@laofuzi
GIVE EVERYTHING YOU GOT, LADDIES!! She’s bound to tire out soon!!
@TheLovelyVocal
I don’t think she’s letting up anytime soon, man!!
(Continously unleasehes voluminous amounts of fire onto Cozy Glow from Party Hellmachine)
(Cozy Glow casts portal spell)
@laofuzi
WATCH OUT!!! She’s transporting ponies using the rift inducer, just like the weapon from Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal!!!!

You’re… Really obsessed with murder and death I’ve noticed.
Correlation does not equal causation.

Chrysalis is a sadist. The two-parter had that implication on multiple levels, in both dialogue, and her actions.
I think it’s telling as to how arrogant she is when she outright mocked Tirek for saying Twilight is dangerous as long as she’s still out there.
