by that argument, artists have no right to take any image owned by hasbro inc. and just publish it. they shouldn’t have drawn the images to begin with.
@redweasel
Regardless, boorus don’t have the right to just take any image from any artist and just publish it, and then only taking it down when the artist ask for it. That means the image shouldn’t have been ed to begin with. – This isn’t about ideas. This is about works.
that’s a self-contradictory definition of ownership. you cannot sell an idea, because when you give someone an idea, you still have it. anyway that armchair illegality has never held up in court, and the EU law is dumb because it criminalizes innocent people for someone else’s supposed crimes. it’s a law meant to sell us to giant totalitarian content corporations, and copyright is just the convenient excuse used to do so.
@redweasel
What? No. Publishers take the ownership in exchange for monetary . This is legal, as the ownership is bought. The artist can make their own film from their own money if they want. – What you say has nothing to do with this. This is about Derpibooru hosting illegal content, which it does. If Derpibooru asked to take over the ownership of the images before hosting, it would be legal.
exactly! therefore it’s illegal for big movie studios to pressure the artists into selling their copyright, because the owner should decide what goes up, not anyone else. oh wait.
@Carter Resado
Yes, boorus are “act first, remove if asked to”.
The same mentality that torrent sites has.
“It’s not illegal; because we do take it down if asked to”. Which is just stupid.
Oh, this is what the new EU directive is about. To prevent these torrent sites to exist, and in extension booru sites. Because the owner should decide what goes up, not everyone else.
@Carter Resado
Because if derpi had to rely solely on the artists, there would have been a lot less art posted to here. Sometimes the artist doesn’t want to make an . Sometimes they don’t want to bother with the work of ing to multiple sites.
Aside from that, this is how almost all booru image sites (and some other image hosting sites) work. Majority of the images ed are usually s that them.

Oh? Huh, usually artists r very cagey about that sort of thing.
