Pretty much, if he wants to be a dumbass and fuck up his mind with drugs, that’s his decision, he’s only hurting himself and try as we might, he has to want an education and a chance at a better future for himself. If he doesn’t want that then there’s nothing we can really do about it. Even if we try to remove the drugs, the burdens of living that drove him to abuse these substances will still exist, we’ve only removed what he thinks he needs to be happy. We have the opportunity to provide positive reinforcement and healthy coping mechanisms to help with his depression, but ultimately it’s a matter of whether or not he chooses to opt out of the psychological imprisonment he made for himself.
