Those group photo Facebook profile pics have always annoyed me because it’s literally impossible to tell which person in the photo is the actual owner without going through the rest of their profile.
The best compromise I’ve seen so far is an acquaintance from college using a group photo with the text “I’m the one on the right” superimposed over it as their profile pic.
Those are actually pretty good ideas.
