The casuals stopped playing it after the fad ended but there’s plenty of reasons for Pokémon fans to continue playing Pokémon Go. These days you can transfer the original 150, Melmetal, and Meltan to Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee and then to Pokémon Home so you can get them in newer games. It is also the only way for Melmetal to evolve into Meltan since that isn’t possible on the Switch games.
 
And soon there will be an update for Pokémon Home so you can directly transfer everything there.
