I don’t think they’re making it directly though, seeing as they’re a game company, not a movie company. So they still need to partner with an animation company, or something to make it, or license a studio to distribute it internationally.

You mean that Mario one? I’ll be surprised if that one even gets made given Nintendo’s tendency to pull the plug on stuff, or revoke licenses abruptly. (They even cancelled the “Super Mario Super Show,” despite it getting #1 ratings, I hear.)

I’m pretty sure if the Mario movie success they might do Metroid at some point.
also there’s probably quite a good amount of simple games that could easily become movies they could easily make a rocky type movie out of punch out

Say what you want about the other edgy reboots at least they still somewhat resemble what they are based on.
also from what I’ve seen they didn’t update the gameplay to match the more mature tone. It’s kinda like giving a big back story to pong

Yeah, I’m not sure how that’d work… Pac-Man would make a better movie, because at least that one has characters.
I Nintendo Power announced a Metroid movie in the 2000s decade… Sadly, that one was never made either.
