Plus, nearly all Western Fantasy Anime have at least a semblance of Dragon Quest’s inspiration in them. Were there a game in which the player(s) take a shot every time a Dragon Quest reference is spotted in a randomized playlist under the Western Fantasy category, all the players would die. ;D

The doujin scene LOVES Dragon Quest. The armor design (essentially) originates from Dragon Quest 3 and that was 30+ years ago. It was still common to see the armor design back when I followed the doujin scene 5+ years ago.
