I’d be willing to argue that Cadance had the best track record in show canon, out of the Princesses (flashbacks/backstory aside) not named “Twilight,” as far as being Worfed goes.
I mean, she helped beat Chrysalis, saw to it Sombra died the first time (and drained her magic holding him off for days before that), she helped Twilight kick that Tatzlwurm’s ass, and she absolutely would’ve attacked Sombra in S9, had she gotten the chance, and she was ready and willing to fight in the finale.
She’s rather underrated in my opinion, and should probably be on the short list of “characters you’d want to fight next to you.”

It hurts more for Luna’s case since she just got back from the moon only to end up getting taken out so many times or sidelined.
Celestia at least has the bit where she managed to protect Equestria on her own for a 1000 years(no way in hell that no villains popped up during the 1000 years gap). Luna sadly doesn’t have that, making her look worse than Celestia by comparison.
It just frustrates me in seeing how the writers handled them like that, especially Luna(and especially with how popular she is. Her being essentially a Esemble Darkhorse doesn’t protect her from the writers’ bs)

Just because the sisters aren’t main characters doesn’t justify them constantly getting taken out/sidelined during major villain crisis.
Whats jarring is how despite Luna’s major popularity, it doesn’t save her from the writers having her getting taken out like that. The writers still shaft her along with Celestia when some major villain attacks.

Eh. I didn’t really mind that. They were never meant to be mc’s in the series. That they got so much more limelight in S8 & 9 and the cult that seemingly spawned around luna after her S2 appearances shows they got plenty of attention for two who were supposed to be ing cast.

Well Cadance at least shielded her and the other princesses from the obsidian orb before it broke through and turned her to stone. And Luna zapped a Storm Guard. Meanwhile Celestia just stood there like a lemon.

It was a M7 but mostly twilight movie. Just like the first Season or two of the show just longer and more epic.
