Actually, dependent on how much liquid is in the mess, diapers do turn brown, and there are literally thousands of real life picture examples of it.
It’s also just a really easy way to show messiness. Some people go overboard and make it extremely saturated and dark, as if they’re pooping into a napkin, but, soft discoloration works the best.

You should look up what Abdl is, or better yet don’t for your own sanity. ;)
I thank you for that. Used diapers do not become radioactive brown when used, so it annoys me when artists do it.
