Guess it would be less of a big deal if others stopped messing with artists on their interpretation of skin color of the Mane Six.
Know that two wrongs don’t make a right, but at least pointing diversity as a marketing plot makes more sense than saying, “they should be white because they sound and behave white.”
@Background Pony
Diversity dictated by things other than what makes sense is exactly forced diversity.
Problem with diversity in animation is - when characters are given “ethnic facial features”, they look like a mockery of the ethnic group because of how cartoon styling works.
As for diversifying the market, I’m Caucasian and I watch movies and play video games with Asian and African leads. Doesn’t diminish my experience the slightest and does not affect my interest towards the movie or game one bit.
Waaaay too much vanilla here, if promoting friendship (and also a larger demographic, there ARE black, Latin, Asian and Bi-racial girls that watch the show) 1/3 of the cast would have a darker skin color, ethnic facial features.
Morons called “forced diversity”, businesses called it expanding to the diversed market.
Face facts, television is not all about white people.
Way better than the “spoiler” image of the humanizations. These at least look more in character. Dashie is athletic looking in gym-type clothes, AJ with farm-ish duds, Twi with the nerdy sweatertvest thing going on, Pinkie in playing styles, Rarity in a very stylish almost business like outfit and Shy in a sweet flowing sundress.
Would anypony like to look? I only have the Mane Six.
