So if I don’t pull the lever, whoever tied those people on the track is the murderer? Now that I think about it, who did tie people on a trolley track? Is there a greater overarching evil within all this? Is some sicko really into running people over with a trolley and they want me to take the fall for it?

Legally, it wouldn’t be anything. Apart from the permanent psychological trauma, maybe charged with not rendering aid after the fact (due to said trauma).
Morally is a different matter, but that’s what the trolley problem is all about anyway.

Is a soldier fighting to protect his country murder?
If killing saves more than it takes, is it not worth it?
