I’ve always been really understanding of antagonists who’s actions actually line up with their motive and are in line with pursuing their goals, and then otherwise tend to avoid doing bad things for the hell of it. Like, if all you do is refuse his girlfriend (which is the legally proper thing to do) all he does is chastise you and imply he’s going to punish you (which he doesn’t), and the first time you have unauthorized decorations up all he does is fine you. It’s not until you go out of your way to spite him, by keeping your stuff up or by detaining her for the hell of it, so from that I take that he’s an incompetent dick but is at least trying to run the booth properly. M. Vonel on the other hand outright arrests you for doing what he asks you to do: if you turn in any of the EZIC stuff after he asks if you’ve found anything strange, he throws you in the clink. Again, it’s in line with his motives rather than out of spite, and it’s possible the Inspector would be released after being cleared, but I’d argue that makes HIM the biggest cock in the game rather than Dimitri XD

Nah, I still hate him. He makes people’s life hard with his own bias, and he is super annoying with his attitude You don’t see Sergiu go all “You didn’t let my wife come, I will report you and won’t be your guard anymore!” and Jorji go all “Screw you and this place!” when you deny him over and over again. I mean like he’s not a villainous force or anything. He’s just the same as every other person in that world, just a guy doing his thing. He’s just another crappy person trying to get by in a crappy world and trying to get a few things he wants and needs if it means screwing some people over. Not that different from the Inspector, when you think about how he was probably the Dimitri to a LOT of entrants who got refused because they didn’t have their paperwork in order :P
Though, I will say, if I was in charge of someone and I told them “hey my girlfriend is coming through don’t give her any trouble” and he said “haa haa detainment shutter go brrr” and had her hauled off at gunpoint I’d probably throw his ass in prison too XD

Pfft, in his mind “doing a good job” is letting his stupid girlfriend who can’t get the proper documents so you get a citation. He literally wants you to break the rules for his own fragile masculinity because he says she thinks he is a powerless fool if you deny her. And then he has the audacity to throw you into hard labor because you have things other than useless plagues that only say “sufficience” hanging on the wall. He literally breaks the rules when it fits his benefits and makes you suffer the consequence for following rules yourself. Screw Dimitri.
