This “What if…?”/alternate scenario is more like a possible belief of Tempest being the main villain of the film, while the Storm King is a side or overarching or final villain of some sorts, which is not true. The Storm King is the primary antagonist whole with Tempest being the secondary antagonist, despite the former having less screen time than the latter. But this scenario does featured some differences between the movie, and the rewrite, and it had some elements from the movie prequel comics. And I love how they got the deleted prologue of the introduction of the Princesses and the Mane Six and Spike, and then it cuts to see the Storm King’s army invading the centaur and gargoyle kingdom and Scorpan was the original owner of the Staff of Sacanas, which is stolen by the a Storm King and Tempest. This alternate scenario is also very similar to how the film was originally gonna look like prior to finalization. The main villain of the movie was originally not just the Storm King, but also, a male Alicorn named Cosmos, , and was the long-lost brother of the Princess Celestia and Luna. His goal was to steal the magic of the Princesses and use it through the Staff of Sacanas to summon the Storm King, who is originally gonna be a powerful elemental monster, that he would use to conquer Equestria, which means that Cosmos was originally gonna be the owner of the Staff of Sacanas. I believe that Cosmos was the childhood nemesis of Celestia and Luna and I believe the backstory for Cosmos there is that he has hated Celestia and Luna and was jealous of the two sisters for ruling Equestria, before teaming up with the Storm King and his army, and then many years later, he conquers Equestria with the Storm King and his army to complete his revenge on Celestia and Luna by overthrowing them alongside Cadance and Twilight, and steal their magic with the Staff of Sacanas. Cosmos’ goal is literally the same as the Storm King’s, to conquer Equestria and steal the Alicorns’ magic with the Staff of Sacanas. Granted, therefore different reasons, but it’s the same idea. So, why have him. Why spend all this time setting both of these characters up when they both have the same goal as each other. I believe that cutting Cosmos out of the movie and just having the Storm King be the sole main villain and owner of the Staff of Sacanas and combined both scrapped concepts of Cosmos and “a wild Pony who left Equestria and was living on her own in the wastelands.” as Tempest Shadow, who is written as the secondary villain of the film is a very wise choice. Had Cosmos been part of the final draft of the film, I believe he would have rendered the Storm King a pretty useless villain. And even though Cosmos’ role in the film as the owner of the Staff of Sacanas was written for the Storm King to own it, and Cosmos’ summons the Storm King, who was originally a powerful elemental monster, I believe that the Storm King would have use the Staff of Sacanas to summon an army of powerful elemental monsters when creating a giant storm at the film’s climax.
