ing her is Rainbow Dash, who is oddly suspicious about why only Twilight was given an invitation to Gorbfest.
It’s just a harmless Changeling tradition, right?
Hours later…
“Well that an experience I thought I’d never live through again. When the invitation said ‘honorary guest’, it didn’t say ‘MAIN COURSE!’”
“Come now, Twilight! It was only harmless fun. Well… It is NOW! We didn’t feed on your love or anything like that. It’s just an old Changeling tradition.”
“And that’s supposed to make us feel any better? You should know, I have an old tradition too.”
“What’s that?”
“Changeling Thrashing…”
A little vector comic made for fun ^^
After it was first mentioned, Gorbfest just seemed like something I wanted to explore. Especially since it sounded like something Changelings did even before they got reformed.
Also, because I just wanted to see if I could make a comic with Reformed Changeling vectors
This is how weird or outlandish traditions come to be.
They were perfectly logical and practical actions at first, that then became ritualized in order to preserve them (it’s not like you had a cooking book or a manual on how to do X in the stone age).
Then the situation changed, the original cause for said tradition to exist was no longer valid, but the ritual it created persisted, even if they changed a bit too to accomodate to the lack of said need.
Here, for example, changelings lure the prey, replace them one by one and put them on coccoons to feast on their love. Practical. They made a festivity out of it with a set of rules and events: Gorbfest.
Then they became reformed, they no longer needed to feed on other creatures to survive. But the Gorbfest kept going, they just didn’t kill the “guests”.
Maybe in the future they will replace sentient guest for animals, or even a model of a pony to represent the tradition.
