OTOH it might be a legitimate warning sign? Carnivorous plants that exist on Earth would fit right in in The Everfree forest, and the magical cousins to those could include deadly gas/pollen, or magical lazors (sic).
Or maybe they are a non-carnivorous, but highly invasive subspecies whose hybridization with the local variety (-ies) of that same species would be disastrous. Thus pollination must be avoided.

Giant wasps are a notable predator of bumblebees. Could be that they have a nest somewhere in the vicinity.
