Fun fact: Trenderhoof and Blueblood are best friends. This is them way back when, young and dumb. (Only one of those things has changed in that time…)

Blueblood’s family is technically royalty, descendants from the unicorns that originally discovered Equestria alongside the earth ponies and pegasi. They were able to maintain an elite position, even though Celestia and Luna became the true rulers of Equestria overtime. Since their reign, Blueblood’s family has faded into the background more or less but still benefited from their generational wealth and birthright, even having rooms in the castle.

Blueblood has always been a spoiled brat. His inattentive parents give him whatever he wants, he’s a mama’s boy, his every rude and disrespectful action is excused and/or paid off by them. He has no reason to grow as a pony so simply doesn’t. Unfortunately because of this, nopony wants to be his friend. Hmph! Whatever. There aren’t many other ponies his age here in the castle anyway, so he often ends up bothering the adults. As fun as that is, he gets bored. So dreadfully bored, even when he gets sent to Las Pegasus or Neighagra Falls, it’s novelty wears off quite quickly.

Trenderhoof is also from a rich family, recently moved into the Canterlot suburbs in the kind of house with 2 pools and 10 bedrooms. But it’s soooo boring. Everything is too perfect and comes so easily. And nobody truly understands his genius or view on life, his eloquent artistic musings and poetry, his true iration of the world… No one gets how utterly mundane this rich life is, everypony keeps saying its a privilege or whatever!

Everyone except Blueblood.

The two of them bond quickly at private school, getting into lots of trouble together, leading on girls and skipping class. Not that it really matters, their parents can pay their way through anything and everything. They soon start doing anything and everything together, and their parents get along well too, spending holidays together and often staying in the guest rooms at the castle. The two families are the snobbiest, most entitled, worst of the worst and others elites in Canterlot begrudgingly get along with them just because they have to, even if their sons are the most annoying things since mosquitoes.

These two are thicker than thieves, but Blueblood may be a little more interested in Trenderhoof than he is interested in him… Although neither of them know this. Blueblood just thinks he likes Trenderhoof a lot and wants to spend the rest of his life with him. As a bro, probably. The way he drones on about his favorite things, the way he doesn’t turn down any adventures, the sparkle in his eyes when he talks… What’s not to love?

More fun facts:

Trenderhoof dyes his hair blonde later. He thought it would be fun if he matched with Blueblood but mostly because he seemed to attract the ladies more with his pretty flowing blonde mane. Blueblood finds this… endearing.

Trenderhoof is actually quite good at school whereas Blueblood is utterly horrible. Trenderhoof either tells him all the answers or attempts to tutor him before their sessions inevitably derail into them doing something silly like getting lost in the woods pretending to be adventurers.
