At first glance, this artwork may seem to diminish the events that happened to Nava before— all the horror and torture. But in reality, it reveals Nava’s character. Yesterday, he was hitting her; now, she becomes aroused by the pain when he gently presses on her wounds through the bandages.Once again, Nava ignores the seriousness of the situation, as if nothing happened, as if she can continue interacting with Rubilax calmly and even enjoy it. This is eternal denial. She will never it that Rubilax is bad. She believes that there is a way to reach him.And yet, by interacting with him, she only becomes more like him. Increasingly, abnormal things become normal for her. Perhaps, deep down, she understands that one cannot so easily return to the subject of deriving pleasure from it, that Rubilax will not understand this. But day by day, she becomes more like him and gradually grows more accepting of his rough behavior. Many might recognize this feeling—when a wound hurts, and you press on it slightly, it feels good because there is a sensation of the pain weakening. That very feeling when everything relaxes a little. When you press on a wound, the pain intensifies for a moment, then gradually fades back. Nava finds such things pleasurable.
