True. You have to realize that if you think you’re a “good person”, you have your dark side. And vice versa: if you feel like a good-for-nothin’, you still must have some virtuous qualities in you.
In either case, you have to unearth the hidden parts of yourself. A good person can come to realize that they are actually really greedy and inconsiderate, and a bad person can realize that they honestly really do love and care for animals, and so on.
This is what I wanted to convey with this example of Princess Celestia - there is an inner capacity to be a cruel tyrant like her sister was as Nightmare Moon as dreams represent the subconscious, something that Princess Luna has shown in several episodes, like “For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils”, even though in practice Celestia rules the land with love and care for the ponies. If not before “A Royal Problem”, then after this it became apparent to her, with her refusing to become Daybreaker.
