Yeah, I know the ending is a bit of a lightning-round, since I was desperately trying to reign in the story’s scope to ensure it actually got finished. And even then, I ended up breaking the soft-limits I’d set for myself with regards to length. No more than six entries per chapter, with no more than 25 individual shots. The final had seven entries and upwards of thirty shots.
Super honored that you’d consider my work an inspiration, and I do wish you all the best if/when you try your own hand at making your own comic. The secret of this story is that it was inspired by Lyra’s Story (which itself was inspired by a gmod comic), and it gave me the confidence to try making my own. So it’d honestly be thrilled to see that legacy continue.
So, same to you, I hope to see more cool stuff from you in the future!
I had seen art related to this comic come up multiple times but for one reason or another I always delayed checking it out properly.
That is until now. I finally decided to give it a go and boy am I happy I did!.
I just finished reading the whole series and I have to say, I loved it! It had me completely absorbed for the last two days.
The story
What can I say. It was fun and very engaging, had me hooked the whole time. The expedition to unknown/mysterious lands premise is something I really dig and I loved some of the parts in middle chapters the most because of that.
ittedly I have more mixed feelings for some of the final chapters. Because as things began to get crazy, I feel like some character motivations for their (fairly extreme) actions were a little bit flimsy and it felt like the pacing skyrocket with many things coming and going rapidly. And many of the big obstacles being solved with more ease than I expected.
That said, still pretty darn fun to read and had a few nice twists here and there to spice things up! And congrats on seeing it through to a proper end.
And that brings us to the visuals and damn do I love them!
Starting with the cover arts. They look amazing. Whenever one popped up, I would get hyped to see what that chapter brings (Thanks for keeping me up past my bed time by the way)
And overall, the art just looks great and has such a memorable vibe. The lighting in increíble, the backgrounds sell the world pretty well, lots of cool shots. Overall, it has a lot of personality and makes this whole universe come to life. And considering this was done with SFM, which is very limited and very recognizable, makes that an even bigger feat.
I am myself getting into SFM for close to year now. Still pretty much a newbie but I seen enough to imagine a tiny bit of the pains that had to go into making a lot of these scenes. And a lot of things that I genuinely don’t understand how you managed to pull off.
Making comics is something I have in my list to try down the road and you can be darn sure I will be revisiting this series many times in the future for references and examples of how to do it.
So to wrap it up. Great work. Thanks you very much for making it. I Really enjoyed it and felt like I had to break my lurker habits to say it.
This was such a good read, there were so many twists and turns. I’m surprised Twilight and Luna became a couple and that Nurse Redheart ended up being punished. Well, thanks for making this comic.
The finish line, unfortunately, being a soul-shredding necromantic megaspell. Luna wasn’t happy about that.
