Fun fact: If you honestly positively MUST touch a pony’s elbow, you will have to stick your hand all up into their armpit. Tickle-tickle style.
The anatomy is kind of funny, actually. I love to think of it like pulling just your upper arms into a sweater and doing little t-rex arms. But on a pony, the sweater is all that big beefy muscle around the shoulders and chest. Their entire upper ‘arm’ bone is actually buried underneath all that muscle and can’t move around very much, and then the first part of the leg that actually sticks out is everything past the elbow.
The knee in the middle? That’s their wrist. And then everything in that last lower third of the leg is like a monolithic hand with a single giant finger, complete with a big-chungus fingernail (hoof).
Ponies. They be pointing at things like no other critter can.
