If you’re talking about Assad the elder, then you’re absolutely right. And Bashar didn’t even have to rule. And he wasn’t even half as cruel as his father. But that doesn’t change the fact that he didn’t know how to run the country, and the people didn’t like him for it, with obvious consequences.

Here’s the serious part. It’s easy to find out that the situation in Syria is worse than Assad’s. It’s a pity for the Syrians, who have been suffering for decades.
