Keep trotting while there’s daylight and Moonflower has energy. Then, set up camp and enjoy a camp meal.
You begin making your way westward, intent on travelling as far as you can before nightfall. Soon, you the demon village, and surround yourself with floral grasslands once more.
While walking and chatting with your friends, you learn that bat ponies do not celebrate any of the Equestrian holidays, including Nightmare Night. Only to be expected, in hindsight, though you suspect that your oracle friend would enjoy experiencing it for herself, should you make it back in time.
You arrive at a grove on a hillock just as day turns into night. Stars fill the darkening sky as the horizon bathes in golden light. A brief wind storm blows from the north, carrying the twisted echoes of a thousand screams.
Moonflower: “D—devourers?!”
Tsu-Ko: “What? No, that’s just the wind whistling through Ishi-Desujo.”
Honourshine: “Whistling certainly is one way to describe this… noise.”
As the wind dies down, so, too, do the voices. The silence is broken shortly after by a choir of insects chirping in the bright moonlight. You approach the trees on the small hill, and figure that here isn’t half a bad spot to set up camp.
You use Divine Script.
You take one of your divine scripts and place it on the nearest tree. The paper talisman sticks to the bark like a magnet to a fridge, and the drawn symbols on it begin to glow faintly. You suddenly feel protected, as though an unseen force is watching over you.
With peace of mind, you and your friends work together to pitch your tent. Despite it being fairly large, you find that having unicorn magic makes it much easier to set up. Within minutes, your little campsite is ready, complete with unfurled bedrolls and a lit lantern.
Tsu-Ko: “Retiring for the night? Don’t mind if I do the same. Call my name if you need anything.”
You nod, and thank Tsu-Ko again for sticking with you despite your differences. The sprite responds with a resigned shrug, then disappears in a small burst of rainbow sparkles.
You use Ration.
Now sitting comfortably in the spacious tent, your party takes a moment to share a packaged meal. Under its enchanted wrapping, the food is kept fresh and ready to eat. You enjoy a bread bowl of mixed vegetable stew with a slice of apple pie, and a small carton of vanilla-flavoured soy milk.
This dinner satiates you well enough after a long day of travels, though you realize that the night is still young; the sun will only return in about twelve hours, leaving you with some free time before bed.
