I would say it’s aimed between 8-10. Maybe EqG is aimed to 10-13.
I don’t see children younger than that being into it. That’s Paw Patrol’s territory.

MLP is definitely aimed at a younger audience than 13 lol

Yes, exactly. And do you know who MLP has always been aimed at?
It’s hilarious. With that comment you unintentionally described the target demographic of MLP perfectly.
EqG, much like MLP, was aimed at the same 10-13 year old demographic that you described.

Because those are actually aimed at children. I grew up during that time, teenagers did not care for any of those, but children did. Not toddlers, but more like 10-13 year old kids.

Okay, if that is the case, then why is Monster High, Bratz, High School Musical, and Big Time Rush (just to name a few) set in high school?
Teenagers do want to see that sort of setting because it’s what they are used to.

If the target audience was tweens they should’ve made it a college setting because teenagers don’t want to see other teenagers. They want to see a romanticized, dramatized experience of what awaits for them.

Yeah, you have a good point. The characters being minors leads to some…questionable discussions.
Really it’s only the brony fandom that wanted them aged up since bronies were always adults-usually adult men (keep in mind, though, I was a young kid when G4 first premiered back in 2010).

And the fact that the appeal of MLPs is that they’re grown up but act like kids, and that’s pretty much teenagers in a nutshell.
OP, we all know the actual reason why you want them to be in college, let’s be real here.

From what I understand that may have a lot to do with how ages work in Equestria versus real life.
IRL horses age faster than humans. They don’t live as long as us. I guess that means Twilight and friends would be full grown adults by the time they get into their ‘teen’ years in Equestria, whereas IRL when they turn into humans (which have longer lifespans) they are teenagers rather than adults. AKA their ages don’t change, but their occupation does.

Sick of the G5 hate
@Eragor14
Probably cuz of the inconsistency with how pony Twilight is an adult, yet when she enters the portal, she (presumably) turns into a teenager, as a lot of the human world counterparts for the main pony characters are high school students.
That then makes the fact that Sunset dated Flash, weird if it’s to be assumed that when Sunset was sent away, she was an adult, not a teen. Even if she was a teen when she was banished, there’s the issue of Twilight getting feelings for human Flash, even though she’s an adult

Okay….why is that?
The target audience was tweens. And even many animes set in a school are specifically in high school, not college. I think the reason for that is most people tend to feel nostalgic about the years when they were in high school. And not so much about college.

Also better as semi-anthros instead of “human.”
