I took a break from working on projects for a little personal work and after being heavily inspired by Zee-Stitch, decided to do some pony pairings. I knew early on I wanted to do next gen kids of the Mane Six and well after a read a fanfic recently, opted to do common pairings I don’t ship. And as an added bonus make them all stallions. This is the end result.
Had alot fo fun doing this and am fairly happy with how they turned out. And in case you couldn’t tell here are the pairings starting from the top left and going right.
First is Spike x Rarity, a pretty common pairing and one I use to ship until I realized Spike is a bit too young for her. The babe came out cute though, really had fun mixing the pony with dragon parts.
Twilight Sparkle x Flash Sentry is next. This pairing I didn’t mind at first but over time I’ve really come to dislike do to their bad chemistry and every interaction becoming painfully awkward. It also doesn’t help that mixing their genetics is really trick, these two don’t produce pretty kids.
Third up is Rainbow Dash x Soarin. I really don’t mind this pairing and I feel it could work, I’m mostly impartial to be honest. It’s just a shame that there isn’t much to work with color wise with two blue Pegasi. I had a lot of difficulty getting the mane colors to look decent, redid those at least three times.
On the bottom left we have Pinkie Pie x Pokey Pierce/Royal Pin (the pony seen popping balloons in Call of the Cutie). I honestly don’t get this pairing, most Pinkie Pie pairings seem to make no sense but this one just baffles me. I don’t think they shared a single scene together so were the heck did this come from. Anyway, the color combo is a little cute even if he still looks like a mare a tad.
Next is Apple Jack x Trenderhoof. The show tried to hint at him being with her to help drive the story of the episode but it really was cringe. What baffles me is people that actually ship them together even though Apple Jack doesn’t seem interested and Trender is only interested in what she is not who she is. To add further dislike, there kid is really boring, the mane color was the exact same between them and there was very little mixing with the pelt color. So not a fan.
And Finally we have Big Macintosh x Fluttershy. I rather like this pairing even to this day, I think its one of the few you could argue working out. You know if the show would stop pairing Big Mac with every available mare. I also like mixing there colors, they are different enough for some variety but similar to have some grounding to not get some ugly or weird colors. Just happy all around.
