I personally prefer the old standby of Ponies Riding Horses. Imagine Tolkien writing THAT out for 10 pages!!! XD
There was a pretty good Discworld crossover fic that had Death’s horse as Pinkie Pie’s grandfather.
Probably because they’re well, horses. With all the traits you’d associate with a horse.
Since the characters here are horses with personality, it seems more right to ponify the sentient characters.
Although, I’d like to see the original characters standing next to their MLP-style horse.
