it was. it was said in a really creepy way, but “we don’t want to cut you open because you’re intelligent, so we’ll spend the extra money to use the machines that allow us to look inside you without injury.” would sound particularly more reassuring than “this won’t hurt a bit; now breathe deeply and count to twenty and we’ll give you icecream when we’re done.”
