@Background Pony #CDBC Did you know? Even horrible people are capable of doing good things. Just because it’s a /mlp/ event doesn’t make it bad. Charity is charity.
And in other news, /mlp/ and 4chan people in general, despite what most of the internet seems to think, isn’t one person. It’s a group of people, and like any group has good and bad guys. Yes, due to the anonymous nature the vocal minority is a lot more vocal. But due to the site’s culture, a lot of the offensive stuff falls under Poe’s Law.
@Background Pony
Like I said, I thought it was associated more with guys being nervous around girls, so I thought maybe something happened involving guys trying to hit on female cosplayers. But, now I know it’s just general embarrassment.
well, at least the joke finally dies on a high note… with CHARITY of all things
can’t wait to hear all the reactions from the con goers not in on it asking why pasta is such a prominent thing for a food drive
@Tenafly Viper
nope, just people losing their nerve in public and then somehow embarrassing themselves
cosplay creepers were around long before the joke was even born, how the hell did it get to be associated with that?
@Tenafly Viper
Not exactly. It originated from a /v/ greentext tale about a stereotypical neckbeard embarrassing himself at a Gamestop. A hot girl was working the , and as the neckbeard moved forward in line increasingly ridiculous things happened to him, ending with him at the counter and spaghetti and meatballs falling out of his pockets for no reason. The story was popular enough that eventually “spaghetti” came to mean a state of severe self-embarrassment(whether the person dropping the spaghetti was aware they were doing it or not).
@ExtremeLurkerHomeEdition
Oh, I know what it means - isn’t it usually associated with interacting with women, though? That’s why I thought it had something to do with creeping on cosplayers.
In any case, it’s really amazing, the amount of charity work this fan base does. I’ve never seen anything like it.
While I can only assume this “dropping spaghetti at conventions” applies to guys being creeps around cosplaying girls, at least this fandom very often does things to directly benefit other human beings, and without expecting anything in return.
Now, if only the retarded “feminists” and social justice warriors could get that concept through their heads, instead of just being a bunch of loudmouthed asses that help no one but themselves.

that’s cool, it’s just that it was the first time ever that the saying was attached to cosplayers so it kind of threw me for a loop

“Dropping spaghetti” is a 4chan may-may that equates to embarrassing yourself.
And despite anything anyone can say about bronies, let it be known that we are a benevolent and charitable bunch of internet freaks.

Someone will find a way. There’s one in every group
