How am I saying it’s a massive change? I referenced a season 2 episode and the season opening more so to point out that sometimes she doesn’t use magic smartly. It’s kind of her thing.

Since we’re forced to live with that change, at least be glad that it’s pointless. Or would you rather the series change to Princess Twilight Sparkle’s Lone Adventures in Equestria’s Government?

We haven’t seen her fly that much so far in the season, let alone fly and use magic at the same time like Celestia, Luna, and Cadence did. I’d imagine that to be quite tricky to pull off that even the Celestial Sisters don’t do it often themselves. However, the Celestial Sisters and Cadence don’t get too much screentime themselves in the first place.

I deeply love how you kids talk about Twilight being an alicorn as a massive change in super weight when so far into the season, she hasn’t done anything exceptional for her standards throughout the other three. The only thing tied to her being an alicorn is Zecora’s potion, and even that wasn’t a powerful spell.

Plus, there are things to consider like the exact location and how she can mostly teleport as far as her eyes can see, it seems. In cases like Dragon Quest, she was likely being random and luckily got everyone far away.
You’ll note that Twilight’s horn was “warming up” for a second before she bamfed. Teleportation apparently can’t be done on the fly, she has to focus and prepare the spell. Apparently she had just enough time to pull it off here.
I’d like to think that Twilight doesn’t use magic against those who clearly don’t use it (as in offensive spells unlike Teleporting).

also considering she could also have tried teleporting it out of their reach, and blasting those getting too close
She could have also flung the dragons about, but teleporting’s fine too.
