It’s my opinion that if it was impossible for unicorns to learn spells outside of their talent there would be no reason for books detailing spells to exist and little reason for Celestia to have a school for unicorns.
It’s just that many don’t put their effort into learning spells, because it’s not easy.
I think in this fandom, as with any fandom—or humanity in general, really—it’s really not the difference in opinion, but how folks handle it. Some are rude about it, sure, but it’s no reason not to share your thoughts if you’re civil about it.
