I have a cat that used to be a stray, and for the longest time she did not like to be touched. I would sit beside her food dish and wait for her to come to eat, and when she did I’d very gently pet her while talking to her.
As time went on she came to associate being pet with being fed, and came to see it as a good thing. She’s sitting beside me on my couch right now ♥
