@ZeroSpawn47
Two sounds even more optimistic. I wouldn’t even give it one episode. It’s just gonna have one scene if the Starswirl book has anything to say about it.
I think many people are a bit prejudgmental. Some of the complains are about the lack of slice of life episodes, while I believe that many of the episodes are slice of life based when reading the synopsis. Than there are others complaining about Twilight’s new function being ignored. Maybe there were a few moments in which they could have addressed it, but I’m pretty sure we will get plenty of mentions later on in the season.
Anyway I think we should all be a little more patient before we could have a proper judgement. I do enjoy what I see so far but also notice some of the things it lacks. However there is no way to see what this season still has to offer. All I can say is relax and have fun watching ponies go on silly adventures.
If that does come to , my responses will be as follows:
“What a waste” followed by “Ever heard of Chekhov’s gun, because if you’re going to bring attention to something supposedly important, then you better damn well use it” (Looking squarely at you, Mass Effect Dark Energy plotline from the second game)
Actually, wouldn’t it be awesome if the keys were physical and needed to be found. Maybe one is somewhere far north, one guarded by some beast, someone stole one a long time ago. Something along those lines, where we could see more of equestria, and have the girls seek a common goal together through multiple episodes.
I would like to see them finding the solution to the key about halfway through the season or sooner. I don’t like mysteries like this going on for too long. Then introduce a new threat or maybe a corruption that spreads, maybe a tragic event. I know it’s a kid show, but something else has to happen besides use the elements and friendship/ love to blast the bad thing.
To me it looks like the first half of this season is going to have to do with the Equestria Games.They will likely get to the keys after that.
We really aren’t that far into the season, also as @Fortune points out its really likely that a few (if not most) of these episode are hold overs from season 3 right now.
It’ll be time to be concerned at about episode 22 with no mention.
I’m pretty sure that right now they’re just working through the leftover Season 3 ideas (“Daring Don’t” and “Power Ponies” could easily have slotted into Season 3 with minimal changes. “Bats!” as well, kind of. Probably the only thing that’d be changed is that they send a letter to Celestia instead of writing it in the journal).
Honestly I’ll be happy if they give it just a bit more attention than the “Grand Galloping Gala” arc got in season 1. If they started referencing it in every episode then it would detract from the slice-of-life style of the show.

six sounds optimistic. doing it in the last two seems more likely

It’s a play on the whole “OP is a duck” thing.

“Mallard”? That’s a new one.
When we reach the halfway point, maybe THEN I’ll start worrying.
