@Darth Sonic
I wonder myself. It seemed so needless, as well as taking away something that made Ryloth a little unique. Not to mention a part of the setting for something like 15-20 years by that point.
@BigMax
Ah. I hope the ‘new’ EU lays down some ground rules about setting and such at the start. Nothing too bug, just things like ‘Ryloth is tidally locked and does not rotate on its axis’. Just some hard details that everyone is expected to stick to unless they can find a very good reason in-story to change them.
@BigMax
Shit, sorry for jumping down your throat like that! I just assumed the “fanon” bit was a crack about the EU being “Official Fanfiction”.
There is one big difference between the EU getting nuked and Hasbro hypothetically torching the IDW continuity. If IDW got torched, there would still be a fairly cohesive MLP universe. Star Wars, on the other hand, has been reduced to a vague setting now that the EU is gone, and that won’t be remedied until Disney fully churns out their new EU.
That’s the problem with Movies in comparison with every other form of media. Movies are glorified short stories, and hack spare only the bare minimum required to flesh out the setting, as every minute of film needs to move the narrative along.
Seriously, search “Galactic Republic” on Wookiepedia. On top, you’ll see two tabs, Canon and Legends. Compare the contents of both. It’s the perfect illustration of my point.
@Darth Sonic
Some fanon stories gained quite some popularity.
And with “semi-canon” it’s like Hasbro ditching everything that’s happened in IDW comics.
Which is actually the case, but there has been tons of official Star Wars literature outside the films, including videogames, books, comics…
Nick: “We were arguing over socioeconomic policies in the United States and he got bored on me. Showed me a picture of Boba Fett proposing to Applejack to shut me up.”
French: “Well, mate, what’d you do?”
Nick: “I shut up. I mean, what do you say to that?”
French: “That it’s something you’ve seen. You have now observed this thing.”

Yeah… That was always weird. Why did Lucus change that?

What the heck?
French: “Well, mate, what’d you do?”
Nick: “I shut up. I mean, what do you say to that?”
French: “That it’s something you’ve seen. You have now observed this thing.”
Nick: “Ya prick.”
French: “Every time, mate.”
Considering the fact that the entire star wars universe just got nuked, no, he has not tried and failed a marriage any longer.
