A prison for the mind, deep below the lunar maria, a few years before her escape; or, perhaps a turning point on the long path to becoming Night Mare Moon; maybe neither of these. I leave the interpretation of time and place to you.
Luna’s canon tiara has always bothered me; I never really cared for the way it was just kind of stuck in her mane…it’s a cartoon, sure, but the design felt bland too. While my version probably needs further revision, I tried to allude to qualities I find sharply defined in NMM: powerful and unrelenting; austere, but not without elegance; sharp, and dangerously beautiful.

Edit 2: Her eyes were bothering me; I redid the ink & paint, and also made her horn better match her body size.
