Yes the tomboy trope has been used a lot, but Dash is one of the best written tomboys I’ve come across.
The tough, sometimes egotistical front she uses to hide her insecurities is very well done and believable. She feels like she could be a real person. There are people like her.
Rarity on the other hand, to me seems a lot less believable and relatable. Most people with that rather prissy personality tend to only care for themselves or how other people view them.

That’s fine and all and I completely agree about Fluttershy, but I just want to clarify that I meant seen in other characters in other shows as opposed to just MLP’s universe.
Dash’s role as the sporty girl who acts tougher than she is isn’t really unique in media. It’s one of the things I appreciate so much about Rarity - most characters like her actually are like that BP is trying to say she is like, but she’s a wonderful subversion on that trope by being both into fashion and high society while still being true to her friends and kindhearted while even managing her own business.

Rainbow’s development has been VERY different. If you wanna talk about the same “development” over and over, I think you mean Fluttershy.
I like characters that change in positive ways throughout the course of a series and Rarity doesn’t fit that bill in my eyes.

Well, you can give a character as much development as you want, but it doesn’t automatically make them a better or even a good character unless the development isn’t interesting or good.
Give me a less developed character who has had unique and interesting character growth throughout the series versus a character who has had same ’ol same ‘ol development that’s been seen countless times before.

Sonic Rainboom was because of Rarity being a show off and Wonderbolts Academy was because of Lightning Dust being reckless. Dash was not to blame on either occassion soooo what episode are you talking about?

Well Rarity’s also a vapid and shallow bitch, has been since the very first season and hasn’t improved on that at all in 5 seasons. So I’d say RD is a better character than her.

I feel as if I’ve seen a BP leave this comment word for word before, but idk. I also think that the notion that one character saving another automatically makes them the better character is absolutely absurd because it fails to take into soooooo much.
