I think it’s much more endearing that Snails made the greater effort by journeying to Manehattan on a quest to convince Babs that Snips was a pony worth giving a second chance. Babs could have easily ignored a stranger’s call or hung up on anypony having anything to do with Snips. A face to face meeting isn’t as easy to dismiss.

I’m thinking he made up a story about where he was going. He has his phone so his parents can call him. Probably put a decent dent in his savings to make the trip but Babs’ll pay for his return ticket.
