It shouldn’t have gone on at all, let alone this long!
That was all Shiny could think about as he laid there on the changing mat, next to Flurry Heart, his daughter and one of the two joys in his life, equal to his wife Cadence. Although, if a pony were to look on him now, they would seem to be more his little sister and mommy.
When his mom visited to offer her help in getting him ready for his and Cadence’s new foal, Shiny felt that it would be somewhat useful, but wasn’t prepared for Cadence’s enthusiasm. Apparently, she thought that it would be something that was good for him, to help what a foal actually would need to be take care of. She even kept talking about how she had to do the same when she babysat Twilight. Yet, not even in his wildest dreams did he think the training would involve being a foal himself!
It was humiliating having to be padded up at all times when not on public business, but his Mom even insisted on him wearing a magic inhibitor, “to make sure little Shiny always needs a grown up pony.” Still, while humiliating, he figured it would be over by the time Velvet left, and he can go back to being an adult pony and on with his life.
Apparently, Velvet and Cadence decided that he wasn’t yet ready and required more “training”.
All he could do at this point is cross his forelegs and pout, the enchanted pacifier muffling any protests from him. Flurry was lying contently next to him, suckling on her hooves, uncaring that she or her daddy required a change. It was bad enough when he was being babied by Velvet, but when Cadence insisted that he still needed more time, and that having a baby sister again would be good for him, there wasn’t much that he could do to change Cadence’s mind.
“I’ll get to you in a second Shiny! After you and Flurry are changed, how about we have some play time?”
Well, at least play time was always fun…
