@Dirty Bit
And then it’d be a fairly neutron-poor isotope if she didn’t add THOSE as well. Seems like (acc to Wiki) most of the isotopes decay into Platinum and Iridium or Mercury isotopes.
Least she’s not making gold out of oxygen. Imagine adding 71 protons onto a pocket of air…That’d probably be taxing to the average unicorn. It’d probably take about five to make even a small lump.
See, she’s turning one element (Pb) into another (Au). To do this, she needs to remove three (and exactly three) Protons from every single atom, with some number of neutrons and electrons likely as well. The only way I know how to do that involves lots and lots of radiation. And the gold might end up being a radioactive isotope. Imagine that’s a hunk of Au-198.
Granted, given the sun in this realm is raised and lowered by an alicorn, that might be overthinking it. Though I find the concept oddly amusing.
Same thing
The word you’re looking for is transmutation.

Nuclear Alchemy is hard.

As long she keeps the volume of gold she creates under control, otherwise Equestria would end up with a inflation.

Maybe it’s standard BECAUSE of the efforts of Frost and her contemporaries.
Well, unless they go all ‘Counterfeit!’
@PonyPon
Amen to that.
That means potion making and alchemy are different things in this world, right?
It’s glittering, therefore she’s making fools gold. (No, I’m not talking about the magic sparkles, look at the edges of the rock).
