I can see where youβre coming from. I wonβt pretend her missing a leg is something cute or innocent, because it isnβt - she lost it in a horrific accident and for a time it caused her a lot of pain. Thatβs sad. Itβs natural to wish she hadnβt lost it; I am sure that for a time she wished the same thing.
Β
My reasoning for saying she doesnβt need pity NOW is because it happened a long time ago for her, she has come to accept it, and it is just a part of her life and who she is. She doesnβt find it hard to move around without it and her story is not about her disability nor about her suffering.
Β
I, too, have a who lost part of a limb, and I will it to taking some inspiration from him when deg Paper Starsβs outlook on her own disability. My friend often tells me strangers ask him if life is hard for him without his right arm. He responds that it isnβt, because he no longer knows life any other way. He just makes the best of what he has and carries on being himself, missing arm and all :)
Β
Hmm, Iβm conflicted as well. Iβve seen this OC before and think sheβs adorable, but the amputated leg turns the feeling sour for me.
Β
Before you assume I have a general distaste for a character being an amputee, know that I have a good friend who is missing his left leg and suffers from an incurable disease that is slowly consuming him through it. He loves to shitpost people in real life and on the internet but at his core he is a really good guy and I drove over 50 miles to make sure he had a good birthday surrounded with friends because we never know when it will be his last.
Β
Combined with that feeling, I think my feeling partly stems from the character appearing to be a representative extension of a person in real life instead of a character within the MLP:FiM universe. Even if the universe has shown disabled ponies like in βTrade Ya!β (Season 4, Episode 22), they have never shown ponies with severed limbs. Itβs a stark contrast to see.
Β
Iβm not sure if thatβs the sort of answer youβre looking for but I wanted to be forthright about my thoughts because you asked an honest and legitimate question.
@Background Pony #C223 Β
I beg to differ, most I see donβt have any vibrant colours. Theyβre usually dark blue, shades of grey or black from the majority of images Iβve seen.
@cupcaketreat Β
I asked them a question, I didnβt say they didnβt like the character. When a person says the amputee thing is weird, of course I want to know why.
@MoonSugar Β
>person doesnβt like seeing colorful equines being injured/having to live with disabilities Β
>must somehow dislike the character behind it Β
???

HAVE A HAPPY.
Letβs make a club.

Even food and, um, happiness?

i hate everything.
So you hate amputees because theyβre βweirdββ¦
Β
yes. i hate them.

Thatβs pretty much every batpony OC.
Indeed, that is quite a reasonable inquiry.

This crossed my head 2. Kirby 64 (the only one I played lol)
Why? Do you have a problem with amputees?
