@redweasel
We’ve seen how big their bears can be, not exclusive to just brown or black bears.
It stands to reason that this chamber serves some significance for these proto-Equestrians; although probably just door markers for navigation if one takes the scenes in the episode strictly.
Even beyond those doors, all the walls depict some type of event that I am sure that these people found noteworthy; otherwise (throwing some reality into this) it would be a huge waste of time and resources to etch in figures and such randomly on the walls without them bearing some importance.
Granted, these depictions don’t have to all be wars, the Egyptian as well as the cave men they made paintings and etchings denoting a wide variety of aspects: culture; their gods; their leaders; the seasons; what have you.
My reasoning was built on the idea that these etching have significance, NOT because I believe them all to be some type of “war”. Logically, conflicts would be important to write down, don’t ya think?
[TL;DR] If you meant for your comment to be something silly, well I guess I interpreted it incorrectly.
Hmm. All the ponies are dun-colored, so the fact that her coat is brown isn’t diagnostic. But the helmet’s right and there are stars above her head and she has the long floaty mane in roughly correct colors – so maybe it is Nightmare Moon. After all, as long as the temple is a bit less than a thousand years old, the builders could have known about her.
@PonyPon
I agree with that. Rather than just looting the place, it would be nice to pretend to be an archeologist for once and figure out the story carved into these walls D:.
maybe the gryphon is playing “uppies” with the pony

by that logic there was a pony bear war at some point.
That thing was a third of snake. It is enough for me.
Aj used a chair to shield herself.
AJ vs Chimera? I concede that’s stretching the point.
but when did an earth pony fought a snake?
That is Twilight and the Ursa Minor, Nightmare Moon, and Rainbow Dash and Gilda. Which means that walls are actually predicting the future
