Could be. Or… maybe it was the one-eighty that the characters had to have done, according to the episode. Improving is one thing, radically changing aspects of your personality is another. Maybe, that is?
When I watched the episode, I found myself not liking it. I still can’t put my hoof on why, but something about how Applejack and especially MacIntosh were depicted rubbed me the wrong way. I wish I knew what it was.
The comic here, on the other hoof, is an interesting addition, one with a lot of emotional weight.

They are sometimes. Apple Bloom and Big Mac talking at the end of Brotherhoof Social? One of the most powerful moments of the entire series. If you do too many of those, though, they can come across as forced and loose much of their impact.

There’s also that Applejack herself states in the flashblack during
The Cutiemark chronicles that SHE was younger than the CMC at the time. The same isn’t mentioned for the others and we know that age gaps can happen with the mane 6 with Fluttershy mentioning her difference with Pinkie and the formers’ body appearance in ep. 23.
Going by the fact that Cheerilee is already with a adult body type, i’d guess that Rarity is slightly older than Applejack and ponies’ teenager stage is quite short.

Like I said it just raises too many question like AB could just asked when was this story take place I mean yeah Granny could just not mention her because she wasn’t relevant but why not right? Also if Bloom was already born then she older than Sweetie Belle by a large margin seeing that Rarity already in her “adult” stage and Sweetie is around 4 to 5 years older than a regular foal in Sweetie’s dream flash back, does that mean after the events of this episode AJ is already looks like she does now or still skinny if AJ and Rarity are around the same age?, man I’m so off track from this comic haha. I doubt the show runners are gonna answer them haha.
I think she was already born (the parents must be dead already. why else Big Mac and AJ would be so focused on who would be running the farm?) and it was never necessary for them to mention her.
@sargesprinkles
If you have anything to critic on it should be the artist mention Apple Bloom despite she haven’t been born yet seeing that Bloom and Diamond Tiara are the same age(I hope) and Filthy and Spoiled are not married yet….unless they already have Diamond and just decided to get engage because of it…..just raises more questions no?
no offence to the fine artist and the hard work that went in to it,
but you are aware that the flashback ended on a happy note, right?
liberties to alternative interpretations do apply, i’m just making sure.
well having a kid can really change your personality.

maybe those two improved in character, after apple bloom was born?

to be fair she said “littler” not “younger” and in call of the cutie, applejack said she was the last in her class to get a cutie mark.
My headcanon has always been that Rarity and Applejack are the oldest of the Mane Six; which of them I see as the older one varies. :)

huh…….Headcanon/possible canon accepted.

It’s like something out of an anime or a drama…

for the love god, we need to make use of this new timeline.
Objections to “creative” interpretations of the show? Coming from you?

Knick knack paddywhack, give the pony a clock.

It just occurred to me that she didn’t name her front legs, just her back legs. I guess she does think of them as arms.
The forelimbs are commonly referred to as the arms, being anatomically equivalent to the human arm.
