It’s all in wholesome, good-natured fun. Simple as that. He’s not being spiteful about it. When someone complained about Twilight’s tongue being grey, he decided to do the exact opposite by turning it rainbow colored. It’s called playful trolling.

Yeah, I really don’t get why he’s having such a huge reaction to people being weirded out by her tongue being gray, indicating that it’s somehow less magical than the rest of her body. And as far as precedent, there are cases both with colored tongues and with uncolored tongues, but the twilight case was the first time it was not colored and obvious, which made everyone go “wait, what? Why wouldn’t her tongue be colored if the rest of her is?”
