I always find that ironic, because those same people love the PS4’s & XBone’s non-gaming features & such just fine. (Shouldn’t they be bashing the Playstation’s new VR thingie by that logic? Why is it ok for Sony & such to be “gimmicky,” but never Nintendo?) Heck, back when people bashed the GameCube for not being able to play DVDs?
Seriously, gamers are impossible to please, and Nintendo is usually their whipping boy.
When people talk negatively about the Switch and complain about it’s “pointless features”, it just makes me want it more. And I hardly have any games for my Wii U and 3ds, besides the obviously must-owns, like Bayonetta 1&2, Smash Bros & Splatoon (even though it’s been forever since I played it).

They pretty much confirmed it’s not another Wii, WiiU, or DS/3DS. They stated it’s going to be a single-screen experience for one thing setting it apart from the U.

Obviously, cannot be certain, but the alleged demo did resemble Wuu graphics, and as such I was under the impression that the Switch is technically still Gen 8; that they supposedly kept on re-deg the Wuu, both hard and soft, then finalized the Nintendo 6.5. The similarities between the two consoles are apparent, but I doubt there’ll be any official statements to corroborate or dismiss these theories until mid-to-late next year. :j

Nah. My first thoughts when the Switch was announced were “the caning type of switch” and “switchblade”. It’s probably normal for certain kinds of personalities. :3

I honestly feel it’s possibilities have been neglected by developers, (including Nintendo themselves) a reviewer back when the WiiU was first revealed stated the touchscreen would be perfect for porting PC games to it, among other things. (Which would’ve given it an edge on the competition) Not to mention the microphone (no need to buy one separately) and camera would’ve been great for online play, and for putting your own face in the games, and such. There’s alot of wasted potential.
Also, sense it was backwards compatible with the Wii-mote, and such they could’ve done more with them. (Though, I like how you can customize it, and use Wii-motes for SNES & GBA VC games.)
I hate to rant, but seriously, the WiiU has been one of Nintendo’s most neglected consoles. By the media, by the consumers, by gamers, by the market, (my local store got rid of almost every WiiU game just to make room for a bunch of lousy game cards…) by developers, (the creator of Minecraft even mocked it…) and possibly by Nintendo themselves in some ways. (As Nintendo is starting to abandon it themselves, notice Yoshi’s Wooly World, and Mario Maker are getting 3DS remakes?)
It’s a shame the WiiU ended up one of their least successful consoles, (after the success of the Wii, DS, & 3DS) let’s hope the Switch gets some love, but personally I have mixed feelings over it. I’ve only had my WiiU for a year (no regrets!) so I’m not ready to “upgrade” yet. Especially, ‘cause the switch isn’t backwards compatible with it, or 3DS. (Makes me curious how “Virtual Console” will work on it, if it has it.)

It’s possible they were just tech demos, and might not be remakes when they’re finally finished in development. Like the old “Yoshi’s Story” GBA demo.
Though, personally, I’d rather have E. Gadd instead of King Boo in MK.

Agreed on the Wii U thing. I’ve played Mario Kart, Wind Waker HD, and Pikmin 3: all of them work wonderfully with the Wii U gamepad. Best Nintendo controller I have EVER used. The map and item screens on the bottom are just perfect.
A few days late: Heard the Switch’s screen isn’t a touch. Obviously meaning MK8 and/or 9 and Splatoon and/or Splatoon’s re-release will be redesigned, among any other Wuu game remakes. Ah, and there’ll only be one active at a time. Put it in, TV; take it out, handheld. :)

Splatoon is pretty good, but my only gripe with it is, it focuses too much on online play. There’s no 4 player local/offline mode, just 2-player, and even that only lets you play balloon mode. Hopefully, the new one offers more then just online play.

I honestly still don’t understand the “hate” over the WiiU Game Pad. Especially, by those who disliked the Wii-mote & nunchuck, considering the WiiU Pad looks & feels more like a traditional controller then the Wii controllers did, just with a touchscreen, & microphone built in.

Oddly enough I’m having the opposite problem. Games I used to enjoy back then are turning out better than the stuff that gets released today.

I love shooters, that game just doesn’t look like my kind of game. I would have loved it as a kid, but I’ve noticed that a lot fo games I used to enjoy just aren’t as fun for me anyone.

Typically, Nintendo has sent dev kits a year or so before the release of the DS, Wii, 3DS, and Wuu to each major third-party presence. Though, yeah, some third-parties take them to the closet after one or two years of experimentation. :T

Shooters ain’t for everyone, no matter how abstract and unique they can get such as Splatoon. ^3^
Never played Spatoon. I honestly don’t see the appeal. It doesn’t look like a bad game, just not something I’d play.
