uuuuuuhhhh I’m not sure but apparentely… Jayson Thiessen and Meghan McCarthy are the only people left in the world who still know what to do with the Mane 6 considering the premises of the Movie… In the last two two-parters they were made completely useless (less in the premiere but still) (they still got the slice of life eps but still), and In the comics they’ve been turned into evil…. for two story arc in a row… I guess the problem is at the root:
After my disappointment in the S6 finale, I did some researches about Merchandize Driven shows from the past and I’ve discovered with big sadness, that no merchandize driven show got a proper ending. Taking in exam two past shows from Hasbro, Jem and the Holograms and Littlest Pet Shop 2012. Those two shows…. never got a proper ending. They were just cancelled because their toys didn’t sell. And sadly it will be the same for MLP. After how the Mane 6 were treated in the last finale and in the last two comic book arcs… it’s pretty obvious that at this point, no one know what to do with the storytelling of this show, because now it only exists to just selling toys. The only exception will be the Movie as I know they are putting so much heart and soul in it. But for the rest, MLP now keeps going on just to sell toys. And when it will end it will end because toys won’t sell anymore. And when it will end…. it won’t probably feel like an ending at all. And this is another reason I’ve chosen the Movie as my stop for the show: while it won’t be officially the end of the show, I’m sure it will be the very closest thing to that.
