Ponyville I read somewhere once was a twist on Humansville, Missouri. So position wise I’m speculating Canterlot (canter a lot?) is Milwaukee (mile walky?), but this is just me throwing around ideas for fun so please don’t hammer me for this.

It amazes me to this day how many people still call the world of EQG the ‘human’ world. If you go back and look through everything surprisingly none of the Equestria Girls media has ever use the word ‘human’ in any context.
