Glider had flown all the way from ponyville to see Dash and the Wonderbolts academy, “Yeah, I was so psyched to see a real Flight Academy, although I heard the ponies are pretty stuck up here,” Night heeded to the many warnings given by Twilight and the rest of the gang.
“Tell me about it, everyone here is so competitive,” Rainbow agreed, casting a glance towards the other trainees practicing nearby.
Suddenly, a pale blue stallion dropped out of the sky, landing next to Rainbow Dash and giving her a charming grin, “Hey Crash.”
Rainbow rolled her eyes, “Speak of the devil.”
“Daw, were you telling you friend about how amazing I am?” Soarin’ put his wing around Rainbow’s shoulders, causing a slight blush to rise to the blue mare’s cheeks, “I’m flattered.”
Dash pushed him away, “Ha! You wish, I was just telling her about how competitive you get.”
“How competitive I get?! You’re way more competitive than me! yesterday on the Cumulus Course?”
“I wasn’t being competitive,” The rainbow headed pony countered.
“You ran me off the course because I bumped into you ONCE,” he rubbed his shoulder, ing the hit that sent him spiraling out of control, “And I still won!!!”
Rainbow scoffed, “That’s because I felt bad! I was going easy on you.”
“How ‘bout we go right now! No mercy this time, all or nothing!!” Soarin’ turned to the powder blue pony, a challenge in his eyes.
Rainbow Dash pushed of the ground and hovered above him, “I can beat you with one hoof tied behind my back!!”
“Let’s go then,” Soarin took off as well.
Rainbow was about to fly off before ing Night Glider, “Hey, Glides, you wouldn’t mind if I…”
“Yeah, go ahead! I’ll be here,” The dark pony smiled and shooed Dash off, “I wouldn’t want to third wheel.”
“For the last time, I’m not dating Soarin!” Rainbow turned red, “Anyways, while I’m gone, don’t talk to anypony, don’t touch anything, and don’t leave this spot, ponies here hate outsiders,” and with that the blue mare shot off after Soarin. Night Glider rolled her eyes and watched Rainbow Dash shoot off into the distance.
She watched some trainees warming up. She scuffed her hoof at the ground and felt the clouds beneath her hooves. She felt the ever growing heat of the sun scorch her back. She listened to the faint commands being given by officers. She sat. Scuffed the ground some more… BORED!
“I don’t think Rainbow would mind if I took a little look around…” Night Glider flew off.

Spitfire watched the young fliers closely, “CHASER, YOUR FORM LOOKS LIKE YOU JUST CAME OUT OF JUNIOR SPEEDSTERS! BLOSSOM, IVE SEEN FLAMINGOS WITH MORE AGILITY! COME ON, BURN, A NEWBORN FOAL COULD DO BETTER THAN THAT!!” Very closely.
“EACH MOVE NEEDS TO BE COMPLETELY CONCISE! EACH TURN MUST FLOW INTO THE OTHER, WITHOUT THAT FLOW THE PATTERN IS CHOPPY WHICH LEADS TO THAT BALANCE YOU ARE SO OBVIOUSLY LACKING!!” Spitfire prided herself on turning out the best flyers in Equestria, she had to be strict, she had to push her trainees to the max if they wanted to be the best. Without pressure coal would never turn to a diamond, it was the same with her students.
Spitfire’s gaze caught on a lone mare circling close by, “Hey, Fleetfoot, why isn’t that mare practicing?”
“Beats me, she’s not in my squadron,” Fleetfoot replied.
“SOLDIER,” yelled Spitfire, “WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS IS? PLAYTIME? GET DOWN HERE IMMEDIATLEY”
Night Glider turned, some officer was screaming at her she believed. She looked closer. Standing there was the most beautiful mare she had ever seen.
Glider became enraptured by the glint of the sun off the mare’s fiery mane, enticed by the perfect way in which the mare’s vivid eyes rested upon her own, infatuated by the way her muscles rippled under her skin as she folded her wings.
“SOLDIER? SOLDIER! ARE YOU DEAF?” Spitfire’s annoyance added new strength to her words, snapping Night out of her trance.
“…what..” Night Glider responded, still slightly dazed from her rush of euphoria. A gust of wind shifted her balance and the dark pony began plummeting towards the ground, still suffering from her heart throb.
“SOLDIER, SOLDIER PULL UP! PULL UP!” Spitfire shook her head at what seemed to be the worst flier she had ever seen in her life.
Night Glider crashed and skidded to a stop at Spitfire’s hooves.
“SOLDIER WHAT IN THE NAME OF GENERAL FIREFLY-“ Spitfire began to yell but stopped as her eyes rested upon the flushed face of the scuffed up, bleeding mare gazing up at her, “Oh, you don’t look to good… are you okay?”
Night Glider blushed even harder at the sudden tender tone of the golden mare’s voice, “I’m fine, I’m good…I just need a minute…ugh,” the world seemed to fade and the last thing she saw was the fiery mare’s eyes before she blacked out.
Nightfire is my new favorite ship right now so after I get all of my main cast babies up expects kids from these two.
